Participation Options
Enel has extensive experience creating energy strategies that work within the operational limitations of many facilities. You can use on-site generators for load shifting to reduce your energy footprint through manual or automated transfers. Enel can also help to implement full control systems that allow your electric load to be toggled remotely. Additional curtailment measures can be implemented to reduce your electricity usage beyond what the generator can handle.
Enrollment Strategy
We work with you to determine your site’s enrollment value based on the electrical load pattern at your facility, performance in your dispatch readiness test, and information regarding your site’s operations. We may adjust this value monthly based on dispatch performance and your feedback.
Dispatch Frequency and Duration
Dispatches may last up to 4 hours. SRP may call up to 28 hours of dispatch activity per year.
Audit Requirements
SRP will audit the portfolio once during the dispatch season. Precise timing is at the discretion of SRP. The audit will look and feel identical to a standard demand response dispatch, and your participation will impact your seasonal performance and payments.
Baseline Definition
The two components of the program baseline are:
- Shape: Your baseline shape looks at the highest 4 usage days of the 5 business days prior to the dispatch. Your average demand is calculated in 15-minute intervals.
- Height: SRP will adjust your baseline to reflect real-time consumption during the 1-hour window prior to the dispatch notification time.
Keys to Success: If operations over the past 5 business days differ significantly from operations on the day of a dispatch, your baseline and earning potential may be affected. If you have an Enel meter, log in to the Enel X Flex application for a real-time display of your baseline during a dispatch.
Performance Measurement
SRP measures performance for every 15-minute interval during a dispatch by averaging the difference between your site’s demand and adjusted baseline.
Keys to Success:
- Begin your energy reduction before the dispatch start time to ensure you are able to reach your target.
- Execute your full participation plan and verify that equipment does not return to normal operational settings during the dispatch.
Payment Calculation
We calculate payment for each season as the average delivered kW across all eligible dispatches, multiplied by the $/kW-season rate stated in your agreement. To achieve your full earning potential, be sure to maintain your energy reduction target throughout every dispatch in a season. Underperformance may result in reduced enrollment and earning potential for future seasons.
